Blogs have been around for many years under different names and for different purposes. They are very similar to other types of electronic meetingplaces like bulletin boards. Many people are not sure what a blog is exactly.

Well, a blog is a type of website where people can write a message and instantly have that message appear on the website. There can be more people that can put texts on and people that visit the blog can forward their reactions and comments that will then be included on the blog. In general the moderator will however check the comments to see if they are not containing foul language for instance and that the comments add value.

So now you know what a blog is, the next question is what you can do with blogs? Well, blogs can be used to put opinions, thoughts, sales messages, promotions, product announcements, relevant issue topics, tips, personal observations about anything. Anything you can think of writing can be put in a blog. Even pictures, audio, and video. And they can be commercial and non-commercial. They can be used for other types of exchanges of opinions like for instance on topics like politics. As you probably know for instance, blogs have had a lot of exposure lately due to the presidential elections in the United States last year.

After having gone through a number books and based on our own experiences, blogs can be used in many different ways to promote, sell,communicate and interact about whatever you are doing and why. But here are 7 high impact strategies we use, based on this high level of interactivity:

1. You can create a personal "voice" for your online business or anything else you want to share.
2. You can create & continue discussions online with your target leads, prospects and clients or any other contacts

4. People will link to your site because of your blog (think Viral marketing!)
5. You can soft sell your products easily due to a trust factor that a blog creates as long as you do not lie of course!.
6. Your blog becomes a destination site because of the content that your visitors create for you and together with you.
